Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation in the digestive tract.

This lifelong condition can flare-up at any time, with symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhoea, fatigue, weight loss, and reduced appetite. And this can massively affect overall quality of life.

Conventional Treatments Options

There are a few ways to help relieve some of the symptoms of Crohn’s disease. This can include:

  • Anti-inflammatory medicines such as corticosteroids
  • Immunosuppressants which control the immune response
  • Biologic therapies that target specific pathways
  • Nutritional support and dietary changes
  • Surgery in severe cases to remove damaged sections of the bowel

The aim of these treatments is to reduce inflammation and maintain remission.

Although some people may find relief with a combination of the above, for others it simply isn’t enough.
