Neurological Conditions

Migraine

This complex neurological disorder is a lot more than severe, debilitating head pain. It can come with other symptoms, such as tiredness, changes in mood and dizziness.

Autism

People with autism experience the world differently. Many may find it challenging to communicate with others, engage in repetitive behaviours, get overwhelmed by bright lights or loud noises, and can sometimes feel anxious or stressed.

Epilepsy

This condition affects the brain and causes seizures, sometimes known as fits, that can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.

Multiple sclerosis (MS)

MS affects the brain and spinal cord. Some of the common symptoms include fatigue, feeling dizzy and muscle cramps. These symptoms can appear suddenly - known as a flare-up - and can get worse over time.

Parkinson’s

Usually people over 50 are affected by this condition where parts of the brain become progressively damaged. This loss of brain cells can lead to symptoms such as tremors, slow movement and stiff muscles. It gets progressively worse over time.

ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects how someone thinks and behaves. Broadly, it plays out in one of three ways: Hyperactive and impulsive (loud, restless, can be disruptive); Inattentive (easily distracted, often bored, disorganized); Combined type (a mix of the two).

Mental Health

Anxiety

Fear, worry, unease, even dread can be natural reactions to stressful situations that anyone can experience. Though unpleasant in the moment, it’s normal. But for some, anxiety is more than a passing feeling, and when symptoms persist, this can affect daily life.

Depression

Depression can be a common, yet serious, debilitating mood disorder. Symptoms can range from persistent low mood and lethargy to an unshakeable feeling that life itself is not worth living.

PTSD

This condition is usually associated with witnessing or nearly experiencing death, serious injury and/or sexual violence. Some of the symptoms include: recurring, intrusive memories or nightmares of the traumatic event, persistent feelings of guilt, shame, fear or anger, and self-destructive or reckless behaviour.

OCD

People with this condition develop obsessive and compulsive behaviours. Obsessive thoughts, urges or images enter the mind, causing unease and anxiety. A compulsion is a repetitive act that will help relieve these obsessive thoughts.

Insomnia

Someone suffering from insomnia will regularly struggle to get a good night's sleep. And no matter who you are - age, gender, occupation - sleep is essential in allowing us to function day-to-day.

Chronic Pain

Back pain

This common physical complaint affects millions worldwide. According to the NHS, back pain is the leading cause of disability in the UK, affecting about 11% of the population and significantly impacting many people's quality of life.

Fibromyalgia

This common chronic condition causes widespread pain all over the body. Symptoms can suddenly improve, then get worse, and this unpredictability, as well as an unknown cause, can negatively impact day-to-day life.

Arthritis

This is when the joints become inflamed, causing pain. There are lots of different types of arthritis, but two of the most common types are osteoarthritis followed by rheumatoid arthritis.

Cancer related

Cancer treatment can come with some unpleasant side effects. But did you know there’s some research that suggests plant medicine can potentially be used alongside things like chemotherapy and radiation, to ease some of their symptoms. For example neuropathic pain (nerve pain), nausea, inflammation, anxiety, and even improve appetite.

Women’s Health

Endometriosis

This condition causes cells similar to those in the lining of the womb (uterus) to grow in other parts of the body. Some of the more common symptoms include severe period pain, heavy periods, extreme tiredness, difficulty getting pregnant, and low mood or anxiety.

Menopause

When hormone levels decrease, causing periods to stop, it’s likely you’re going through menopause. Some of the common symptoms include anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes, and irregular periods.

Pre-menstrual dysphoria

Also known as PMDD, this is a much more severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It comes with many severe symptoms including depression, anxiety, mood swings, and lack of energy.
